About me

Meet James Thompson – The Heart Behind RushMeals

Hi there! I’m James Thompson, a 34 year old self taught home chef from Austin, Texas, and the heart behind the fast paced flavor world of RushMeals. My kitchen journey started not in a fancy culinary school, but in a tiny college dorm with nothing more than a hot plate, a can opener, and a craving for something that tasted like home.

🏡 I’m a dad now of two wild, wonderful kids and life hasn’t slowed down one bit. Between school drop-offs, work calls, and keeping up with laundry (why is there always so much laundry?), cooking could’ve easily become another stressful task. But instead, it turned into my escape, my joy, and my way of reconnecting with my family and my roots.

🌟 I grew up in a culturally blended household where my Southern grandma’s fried chicken sat right next to my dad’s spicy biryani. Our meals weren’t just food; they were little love letters, full of flavor and tradition. I’ve held onto that philosophy, even as I’ve had to trim prep time and simplify ingredients. To me, cooking isn’t about perfection it’s about connection. It’s about showing up, even on the messiest of days, and putting something warm and real on the table.

⏱️ That’s what RushMeals is all about. Real meals, ready fast. I create recipes with the beginner in mind easy steps, affordable ingredients, and results that make you feel like a kitchen rockstar, even if you’re just getting started. Most of what I cook can be done in under 30 minutes, and I always make sure the food tastes good because I understand how important that is to many of us looking for inclusive meal options.

🔥 I’ve burned dishes, over-salted soups, and once mistook powdered sugar for flour (do not try that at home) but every mistake has made me a better cook and a more compassionate teacher. I’m here to cheer you on, to share what’s worked for me, and to make sure you never feel alone or overwhelmed in your kitchen.
